First edition of this beautifully-illustrated biography of Rosa Bonheur written and inscribed by her partner, Anna Klumpke.

Though the subject matter of her paintings might seem commonplace to modern eyes, Bonheur lived an unprecedented and rather unorthodox life. She was born to a fairly wealthy French father, and, as we have seen before, was taught to paint by her father, who studied landscapes. Rosa was like this old lady preying on a super-young Anna.
