Kalevi Aho (born 9 March 1949 in Forssa, Finland) is a Finnish composer. He studied composition at the Sibelius Academy under Einojuhani Rautavaara, receiving a diploma in 1971. He continued his studies for a year in Berlin with Boris Blacher.

He studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki under Einojuhani Rautavaara and in West Berlin in Boris Blacher ’s composition class. Aho has since lectured at the University of Helsinki and served as a professor of composition at the Sibelius Academy. He is the composer-in-residence of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra. His earliest works include the string quartets written in 1967, 1970, and 1971, and a violin sonata of 1973. Finnish composer (born 9 March 1949 in Forssa).
